Set up in June 2004, Pragmatix has a range of high quality and innovative skills. Its consultancy services include research and analysis, participatory appraisals and evaluations, qualitative information system (QIS) database development and hands-on training, workshop facilitation, editorial services, graphic design and software-based advocacy tools and techniques. Pragmatix has a small full-time staff of experienced consultants, and can call upon the services of more than 100 field investigators, coordinators and experienced consultants in India , Nepal and Sri Lanka to undertake both large-scale fieldwork and short-term consultancy inputs. Given ground-level support, Pragmatix can also work with and train other country teams in all areas of expertise.
What we Believe
Information is the key to empowering the rural and urban poor and making them self-reliant and independent. Information embodies and symbolises power and the lack of access to information enslaves the poor. Since we do not directly work at the grassroots level, the next best thing, we believe, is to strengthen the hands of those who do.
Data management of large Data Sets
Pragmatix is using new tools and techniques of data management (Android, ODK and app based methods). We are doing online data collection by using tablets, handheld device, mobile based plate forms. Pragmatix has handled many large-scale multi-country evaluation and research of large data sets with distinct parameters. Pragmatix is known for its unique skills of data management and expedite evaluations (starting from design to report). We are now providing GIS enabled services for our field researchers for tracking field level management, practices and data follow up. This brings in high transparency and quality assurance for all types of evaluations & designs.

Impact Assessments / Monitoring & Evaluations
Pragmatix is well known for its expertise in Propensity Score Matching (PSM), Randomised Control Trails (RCTs), Difference in difference (DID), Quantified Participatory Assessment (QPA) based assessment, Correlations and Regressions, case studies, participatory rural appraisals, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and real stories based evaluations for impact assessments, monitoring, research and documentation. Pragmatix brings experience of designing and delivering rigorous high quality impact evaluations using large-scale mixed method design addressing the "before-after", and "treatment-control" and participatory impact evaluations, in agriculture, micro finance, education, health, water, governance, livelihoods and study tours.

The Quantified Participatory Assessment (QPA)
The Quantified Participatory Assessment (QPA) is the assessment methodology at the community level, to collect stakeholder perceptions and convert them into numbers using an ordinal scoring system. These findings are entered into a database, analysed and the discussed at multi-stakeholder meetings aimed at generating positive course correction steps.
The Qualitative Information Appraisal (QIA)
The Qualitative Information Appraisal (QIA) is a complete package comprising the QPA, multi-stakeholder meetings and an action planning report, which can be used for qualitative baselines, mid-term appraisals, and end of projects evaluations or even for annual assessments for a limited sample of the project area.
The Qualitative Information System (QIS)
The Qualitative Information System (QIS) is a package that offers projects and programme level monitoring and evaluation of qualitative information from community assessments in project areas. It comprises a web-based repository of all qualitative information, including findings from QIAs, case studies and special reports.
Pragmatix carries out high quality academic and field-based research for the development sector, to document implementation experiences in visualisation, therefore we believes in high quality data validations and data analysis. Our team is equipped with latest versions of STATA, SPSS, MS Excel, MS Access, NVIVO9 (qualitative data) for generating high level of analysis and visualisation. By using STATA, SPSS and NVIVO9, we generates frequency of responses, histograms, correlations, regression and advanced statistical analysis.
